Another Kristin Hannah book! Fun fact: This was the first book I read in quarantine. It was recommended to me by a great friend and it did NOT disappoint. One of the most interesting parts about reading is that it offers insights into lives we have very little chance of living. Specific to this book, I am running out of time to grow up in a small house without electricity in Alaska, but now I feel like I am prepared to survive the toughest of winters. Anyways, Hannah writes the tale of a family who move to Alaska when their life is tough. They are constantly on the move as the father has very severe PTSD, but they have hope Alaska will be their final stop. The imagery in this book is so beautiful, which is such a treat since it is set in such a powerful place. Every part of this story pulled me in- I was never bored. I became so invested in the character’s lives that I cried tears of joy at the end. This book is perfect for anyone looking to escape the world they know for a little bit.
